Please see message from organizer Sue Murphy with details as well as the schedule for the U9C Timbits Jamboree:
On Sunday, February 8, 2026, young hockey players from the Metro area will participate in the Timbits Hockey Jamboree at Mary Browns Centre, St. John's, NL, which is hosted by the local Tim Hortons restaurant owners and volunteers.
The Timbits Minor Hockey Program was introduced more than 20 years ago in Atlantic Canada. There are now over 60,000 Timbits participants across Canada and the United States and approximately 2000 players in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Some quick housekeeping items which are very important to convey to the coaches and guardians.
-This is a fun event for the players and I really hope that they have a wonderful experience skating in front of the big crowds where our own Newfoundland Regiment skate.
-There will be no goalies, so if a player comes with only goalie gear they will not be allowed on the ice. Please don't put any player in that position.
-The ice will be divided into 3 ice surfaces and each team will play for about 20-25 minutes, and play 2 games each. After the teams second game all players participating will receive a medal and a small participation gift from Tim Hortons and the Timbits and juice for all the players and coffee for the adult support team.
-Water bottles will be for the dressing rooms only and NOT allowed on the benches.
-Two coaches ONLY will be allowed with their teams - 1 must be on the ice in skates, gloves and helmet (with the coaches on the ice being the volunteer officials to keep the game and children moving) and 1 on the bench. There will be no one else allowed on the bench, in the hallways or remaining in the dressing rooms while the players are participating in their games.
-The teams will remain on the benches for both of their games. Myself and my volunteers will advise the teams of their respective benches and lead them if necessary.
-Only 1 adult or guardian will be allowed per child in the dressing room area, and that guardian will be only allowed down at the discretion of the staff of Mary Browns Centre in conjunction with our schedule and the time lines, please reiterate to your guardians that they must be patient with that timeline and be cordial to the staff and volunteers. Once the children are in their hockey gear then all adult supporters will be asked to go up to the fan area, and if a child does not wish to go on the ice without their adult support then that child will have to remain in the dressing room with that adult. Unfortunately again we are trying to ensure the safest and best possible experience for the children.
On a personal note, I am a Volunteer and hockey player with two adult hockey playing children. I am not affiliated with any association and not an employee of any Tim Hortons franchise or head office. The volunteers working with me are just that... volunteers, and we organize this event for the love of the game, watching the joy on the players faces and their sheer excitement so let's all have a wonderful day.
THANKS FOR READING UNTIL THE END AND SEE YOU ON FEBRUARY 8, 2026 :)
