Vaccine Passport Requirements/Covid Protocols

Monday Oct 18, 2021

Vaccine Passports:

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador have recently released information on the mandatory Vaccine Passport requirements which will come into effect on October 22, 2021.

With this recent announcement, arenas will be required to scan Vaccine Passports (and see a valid piece of ID) upon entry and are not permitted to allow entry to ANYONE over the age of 18 without one. This means that any parents/guardians/coaches/volunteers that do not have the vaccine passport will not be permitted in Twin Rinks. Twin Rinks will have staff on the doors scanning passports.

As detailed on the government website, children that are eligible for vaccinations (12 -18 years old) will not be required to show proof of vaccination to enter arenas if they are participating in sports. However, spectators, referees, timekeepers, and those assisting on the ice that are between the ages of 12 and 18 will have to show their vaccine passport.

All of the information regarding the mandatory passport can be found in the following link:

Covid Protocols:

Please note the following:

1. Players are required to wear ‘buffs’ when social distancing is not possible on the bench. This means that all of our players have to be wearing a buff when on the bench during hockey games if social distancing cannot be maintained.

2. The use of masks is required when involved in Hockey NL activities such as in facilities, on benches, in dressing rooms, and spaces that do not permit social distancing.

3. Masks are required inside Twin Rinks for all players/parents/spectators.

4. Before coming to the rink every player and parent/guardian/spectator should review the screening form for COVID 19 symptoms. If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms (answer yes to any questions) please do not attend your on ice session.
